Legacy

Aruna Asaf Ali received the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding in 1991 and the International Lenin Peace Prize in 1964. She received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour in India, during her lifetime in 1992, and then the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, posthumously in 1997.  A stamp honouring her was released in 1998. In her honour, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg was established in New Delhi. The Dr. Aruna Asaf Ali Sadbhawana Award is given each year by the All India Minorities Front.
